you opportunities to exchange your home for
a vacation.
Teachers Travel Web was launched online in October 1999 by Tricia and Mike Legg in New Zealand
to fill a need for educators wishing to travel within their own country
and overseas, often
on a budget. The new facilitators now are Chris and Peter
De Houwer from Belgium. Mike and Tricia homehosted Chris and Peter in 2004 and they have now become dear friends. Chris and Peter love travelling and meeting people along the way. Chris is a teacher of English , she operates from the international headquarters
located in Antwerp, Belgium, Europe.
We believe that teachers and other workers in education
deserve breaks away from the kids and classrooms, and lots of them! We all
seem to share the same ideals and values, making us special and compatible
house guests, or reliable home exchangees.
Our goal of 1999 has been realised with a worldwide
web of educators, currently covering 20 countries.Teachers
Travel Web has featured in travel magazines, newspapers and teachers' publications
worldwide, and has been twice asked to feature on British
Television. In 2002 teacherstravelweb.com was also one of the top picks for
budget travel in Frommers' Budget Travel Magazine.(Oct/Nov 2002)
The company uses the internet totally for all communication
keeping operating costs to a minimum, which
is able to be passed on to you as
the very small annual subscription charge of 45 Euro to members. (Not
even one night in a motel is that cheap!) The passworded area of the
site is where the members communicate with each other and book and
plan their vacations.
And so we invite you to experience the joy of meeting
